As part of a collaboration between the Department of Visual Communication Design and Cemil Meriç Social Sciences High School, the documentary film titled “Ramazan Pidesi”, jointly produced by students from both institutions, was shown on Thursday, May 22, at Cemil Meriç Social Sciences High School. The screening took place with the participation of SAU Visual Communication Design student and director of the film, Abdurrahman Bekçi, as well as students from CML who also contributed to the project.
Created under the guidance of Dr. Tülay Çelik as part of the Film / Video Workshop course, the documentary tells the intergenerational story of “Pideci Mustafa,” one of the well-known bakery masters in Sakarya who has played a significant role in establishing the tradition of minced meat Ramadan pita. In the film, the craft of pita making is portrayed not merely as a profession, but as a symbol of labor, solidarity, friendship, and rituals unique to the month of Ramadan.
Presenting its audience with a simple yet profound narrative, the documentary contributes to the city’s cultural memory by helping preserve local culinary values and pass them on to future generations.
