Alberto Modiano, known for his work in the history of photography and documentary practice, met with the students of the Visual Communication Design Department for a talk on documentary photography and film.
On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Sakarya University’s Department of Visual Communication Design welcomed Alberto Modiano, one of the leading figures in the fields of documentary photography and documentary film. In the session, which attracted significant interest from both students and faculty members, Modiano delivered an extensive talk on the history of documentary photography, current trends, and its ethical dimensions.

Engaging in an interactive conversation with the participants, he offered valuable insights into project development processes, the responsibilities of photographers in the field, and the narrative power inherent in documentary work.
The event, enriched by the contributions of Prof. Dr. Melih Zafer Arıcan from the Faculty of Communication, concluded with a Q&A session following the screenings of the documentaries Kökten Meyveye İki Okul Projeleri and Karanlık Oda, further deepened by Modiano’s reflections and experiences.
