Our Master’s Students at the 8th International Cinema and Philosophy Symposium!

Our Visual Communication Design graduate students Meryem Sevra Bayındır, Sümeyye Tanta, and Ece Kuyu (Painting Program) are participating in the 8th International Cinema and Philosophy Symposium, regarded as one of the most distinguished academic gatherings in the field of cinema in Türkiye. The event will take place on 5–6 December 2025 at the Ankara City Council building.The study, initiated in Dr. Tülay Çelik’s Film Aesthetics course and Assoc. Prof. Tuğba Ayas Önol’s Introduction to Philosophy of Art course and developed with great dedication and academic enthusiasm, will be presented on 6 December 2025 at 10:00 in the session titled “Posthumanism and Transhumanism Through Films.”The 8th International Cinema and Philosophy Symposium brings together film theorists, philosophers, artists, and directors, aiming to approach cinema not only as an art form but also as a way of thinking. This year’s guests include Prof. Dr. Lucy Bolton (Queen Mary University of London), Prof. Dr. Nathan Andersen (Eckerd College, USA), Yeşim Ustaoğlu, Shadmehr Rastin, and Amin Jafari.The program features a wide range of topics such as Epistemology, Aesthetics and Body Politics in Films, Philosopher Directors, Ontological Reflections on Montage, Posthumanism and Transhumanism, Faces and Haptic Experience in Cinema, Cinema and Space, and Nature and Desire in Film.
